The crowds !!

A full day in the sun drinking wine/beer/cider, eating kiwi tucker and grooving to kiwi sounds with not a spot of shade in sight (but sunblock nonetheless!) makes for very sunburnt exhausted people. New Zealand 'toast' came to town, a food/wine/music festival for kiwis! All the flatmates went and met up with some contiki friends there, it was a blast. Started off with champagne and pancakes (thanks Graheme!) for brekkie around 9.30 then off to the tube. Once we were armed with something wet, we headed for the food tent where we got the most devine NZ spit roast lamb sammies with fresh white bread, mint jelly and sea salt, we were almost in complete silence eating them with the odd grunt of expression in delight. We were in heaven and experiencing our first taste of home in sometime. (pic see me with my lamb sammie). Pretty much just chilled out in the sun drinking and chatting with the sounds of Hayley Westernra and Nathan King (from Zed) in the background. Then it was time for Dave Dobbin and everyone was on their feet and we managed to be right up the front (about 8 people from the front) and screamed our lungs out to all the songs (that we knew). He finished with 'loyal' and was fantastic, my first pang of homesickness but everyone was proud to be a kiwi. Saw Kelly behind us on someone's shoulders with the NZ flag (see pic) and when Geoff picked me up I saw people for as far as I could see it was unbelievable, Dave Dobbin said it was the biggest crowd he'd played to.

Geoff wanted me to add that he had his first pie since leaving NZ.

Sounds like a great day. Hope you enjoyed all the NZ food, wine and music. Hope it didn't make you too homesick. Don't worry Geoff, your NZ flag is packed and will be on its way soon.

For people who are enjoying the middle of summer you really should have better tans (well I'd expect more of geoff anyway). We'll have weather like that soon, and Geoff's bike is just going to sit rotting in a shed.....such a shame
