Greece (Malia)

Spent a week in Greece with Ange and had such a cool time. Everyone there was so friendly, if a little different to what we're used to. We stayed at the island of Crete (down below the main island of Greece), in Malia, in a cute little resort. 10 mins walking distance to Malia township, Stalis or the beach. Spent the first few days wandering around, getting our bearings and trying the local cuisine (the portions were always so big that I could never finish, the waitor would always look concerned and ask "what happened?" or "what is that? would you like me to save it for you till tomorrow?" hehe).
Went to a Greek evening where there was greek music, dinner and dancing. We jumped on the stage for a bit of a dance at one stage, great night. We took a boat to the island of Spinalonga for the day, it was where the lepars were sent back in the day, quite interesting. Then a short boat trip to another cute lil island where we could swim andhad a BBQ before heading back to Malia.Spent a few afternoons at the beach where I experienced my first topless sunbathing session.......interesting but very liberating! Water was crystal clear and so warm. Had to spare a thought for you all back home where the sunshine sounds a bit absent at the moment.
On our last full day we took a cruise boat to the island of Santorini (4 hours there and 4 hours back), awesome boat ride, there was a pool on it, 5 decks high and a dining room where we had brekkie and dinner on the way back. What a gourgeous island! We got to ride a donkey which was a bit of a giggle and not so good for the blood pressue as we didn't have anything to hold onto except the saddle and they once you were on the donkey they just let you go (you can tell we are not true farmgirls!). Had lunch at the top of the island, spectacular views. The night life was ....interesting. A bit horey, pole dancers and the like but interesting all the same. So much alcohol for such a small fee, for 10 euro me and ange got 6 shots and 6 drinks. Being in Greece you would think the whole kebab on the way home at 3 in the morning would be a great idea, not so. They come with heaps of chicken, chips (yes fries!) and mayonnaise. No salad or anything they were pretty gross.
