The Wedding Show - Girls Day Out

Today we (and what seemed like every other female in London), trapsed along to the Wedding Show. It was very similar to the Food and Home shows we have in NZ with many stalls advertising different prodcuts. We went to help Tanz with ideas for her wedding next year (yes and only this reason), we got to try out heated eyelash curlers, hair extensions (they didn't have any brunette ones so I tried a blonde one and as a result looked like I was fresh out of a trailer park) and of course, my personal favourite; the chocolate fountain. The best part was the catwalk show shown above, amazing models, music and outfits.

Star Spotting

Last week as I sat eating my rice and feta salad on a bench outside the florist during my lunch hour at work, I spotted Antonio and Melanie (we are almost of first name terms now) strolling past. They looked so normal ! I think if I had've blinked as they walked past I may have missed them.

The girls

Last Friday night we all had a biggie to celebrate the arrival of Glen, Nat and Sheree from NZ. Drinks at Tanz and Karl's first then headed to Artesian Well for dancing. We were later joined by Dan, one of Glen's friends (fresh from the Airport, pack and all !!) who had just arrived from America. ALthough it looks like we were sitting for the entire night, I assure you we danced the night away.

Paris Adventures

Inside the glass pyramid at the louvre looking out.
As we were due to leave Paris around 4pm, I dashed to the Louvre (Ange had already been) to see the Mona Lisa. As everyone I had spoken to was so disappointed, I wasn't expecting much but wanted to see it all the same. I was so impressed by it because I had such low expectations. Amazing. Headed back to hotel, then pics outside the Moulin Rouge (just one stop away from our hotel) and back to London.

The Notre Damn
Lovers in Paris, I saw a couple dancing on the sidewalk, so romantic but didn't get my camera out in time and our boat went past so I missed the moment.
The next morning we headed to the eiffel tower for some quick pics (we both had already been up it on our contiki tours, then hopped on a boat cruise which was great, we got to relax on the boat for a whole hour, listen to French (there was also English translation) and look at all the sights.

Dinner at Montemarte

Ange and I spent the morning in the Notre Damn (which I missed out on seeing last time in Paris), was amazing! The gothic architecture is gourgeous and so detailed, hard to comprehend how old some of these buildings are because NZ is so young. Spent the rest of the morning wandering around side streets, drooling over delis and looking at 'weird' (according to Ange) craft shops. Got some yummy food and headed to Jardins de Luxembourg for picnic.

Spent the afternoon wandering down the champs-elysees and avoiding the crowds. So nice to not have a time limit and just head where we wanted (opposite of contiki), bought a bottle of wine on the way home to have a few glasses while getting ready for dinner.

Paris - Versailles

Dinner at Versailles
Check out the cheeses

relaxing in the gardens

Ange and I had a girl's weekend to Paris and had a blast! We took Friday off work (which is always good!) and headed on the eurostar Thursday night to Paris where we feasted on bubbles, figs, crackers, cheese and chocolate followed by a small nap and then we were in Paris. Our hotel was in the sex district, just down the road from the Moulin Rouge.

Breakfast everymorning was included and consisted of croissants, coffee, o.j and cornflakes. Headed to Versailles on the train for the day where we had a look around the township and saw the Castle of Versailles (ange is that what it was called?). We proceeded to look around one of the entrances (not knowing there were 5 !!) and thought it was all over so we headed to the massive gardens and relaxed for a few hours. Heading back to the castle we somehow realised we had only done 1/5th of the castles (by this time it was about 5pm) so hurridley tried to do some more of the tour but only managed one more end of the castle. Unfortunately we missed out on a lot of it but we got to chill out in the gardens in the sun for a few hours which was great. We had dinner in Versailles then headed back to Paris that evening.

Brasil vs Argintena

enjoying a bevvie before the game, just after we had bought them (and Karl 2), we saw a sign saying 'no alcohol past this point' so had to stand outside and drink them. And sadly there were no hot chips !
Geoff treated me to a soccer match (I think my first) between Brasil vs Argintena with Tanz, Karl, Dan and Kelly. It was at the new Arsenal stadium and it was packed !! So much fun, the players are amazingly talented, the TV doesn't do them justice. After the game the line to get back on the tube looked like it would take a few hours so we had a wander around Islington and Angel and had a picnic in a small park. What a fun day!
