High tea for Ange's Birthday

High TeaAngie outside Buckingham Palace
Picadily Circus

I took ange out to celebrate her birthday. I got a double deal which was a tour in Buckingham Palace (which we missed out on through no fault of our own but Ange has written an excellent letter so hopefully we will get another chance), followed by High Tea at a 5*hotel (see pic). We started off with pink champagne followed by sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream with tea. A funny moment while we had everything at the table but were waiting for cream. After much waiting our watering mouths spoke up and asked for some cream. Apparently the very yellow and thick 'cream' (we thought it was butter!) was special clotted cream which is no good for the waistline but very delicious. You could tell we were amateurs at this kind of thing!

After lunch we walked around and Ange showed me around Soho. We had a glass of wine at a pub then continued to look around for a nice place for dinner. Ange had a fantastic place in mind, this great tapa restaurant in Soho for many tapas and a few jugs of sangria. I had the best day ever and got home around midnight. Was feeling a bit sick the next morning possibly due to over indulgence. :)

The next day was Ange's actual birthday and we all met at The Queens Head in Hammersmith. Mum and Dad arrived back from their touring around and we all went for a pub roast and some drinks to celebrate the occassion along with Ange's friends. Unfortunately the photos are on mum's camera so I will have to get her to email them to me when she arrives home so they are to follow.

Ireland

Ange, Geoff and I went to Ireland Friday afternoon till Sunday night to visit Kyle (Ange's friend from Primary school and uni). As it was only a short flight (55 minutes) we were all geared up and ready to go. However I must've had a hard week as I fell asleep on the plane before it took off, woke up 55 minutes later and thought I was in Ireland. Unfortunately we hadn't left London, we were 'in a queue' to take off.........not long after that we were in the air and a packet of chocolate eclair lollies later we had landed in Ireland. We caught the bus to town and met Kyle at the 'stiffy on the liffy' (a big spike near the Liffy river, also known as the 'stillhetto in the ghetto'. We caught a cab back to Kyles and he had treated us with a couple of bottles of red, some heineken's and a delicious array of cheeses, breads and spreads. We scoffed all that over the wine and caught up on what we'd all been up to. Kyle had also bought a stuffed pork roast and the smell was beginning to make us all hungry, even though we'd totally just pigged out. Had a small nibble of the pork then headed for town and had some drinks and a boogie then the funniest taxi ride ever home. Wasn't a huge night as the three londoner's were pretty exhausted even though Kyle was ready for a huge one.

Saturday morning we got up and headed for Trinity College, browsed around then went to the World's Greatest Street Performers Festival. It was a beautiful sunny day, we watched two performances and they were just brilliant. After that we headed for the Guiness Factory which was one of my highlights, the museum was excellent. My favourite part was they had all the advertisments for Guiness since the 1950's so Geoff got extremely bored while he waited for me to watch as many as I could. It was a very big building, about 4 storeys high so took a while. We arrived at the top for our free pint of Guiness (Kyle and Ange were keen larry to finish their pint but after a few mouthfuls I wasn't so sure). However in the spirit of good things I managed to down my pint first and Geoff finished last !!!!! Finshed off the day with a traditional Irish meal at the pub, it was so incredibly yummy.

Sunday we went on a bus tour to Glendaloch and Killkenny. Killkenny was a cute little town, we browsed around the shops, didn't buy anything, the budget didn't stretch that far. We saw our first Irish castle and the grounds were massive, Geoff thought it should be made into a golf course. After a big weekend we were absolutely exhausted and fell into bed upon our arrival to London. For more pics check out www.bebo.com

The Church

Siomen and Nat
All the girls dancing on stage at the end of the afternoon
Siomen, Nataleigh, Ange and I went to 'The Church' on Sunday just to keep the weekend going......it was certainly an experience. The Church is open from midday-4pm and you have to buy three drinks (at least) at a time, they give you plastic bags with them in - see the last pic of Nat and Ange, check out the bags hanging on Nataleigh's pants. We got to sing songs to all the different countries that were there (american's, south africas, irish, antipodeans), saw two strippers, boat races and then at the end all the girls got on the stage and danced. If anyone goes, don't wear white (a little tip from Rose - thanks)

BIrthday day

Ange, Philip and the hubbly
Beth and Phoebe in the trolly/BBQ
Nataleigh and her Cherry FIZZ POP
Phoebe, Laura and Beth
The Jazz Festival
Me and Geoff
Kelly and Dan
Started the day off with a pancake brekkie (thanks Chris!!!) with all the toppings (strawberries, bananas, ice cream, whipped cream, maple syrup) while watching the all blacks game. Then we all met and (once we all were organised......) cruised along to the Jazz Festival at Ealing Broadway - it took about an hour on the tube to get there so it was quite an event! Once we were there we unpacked our ginormous food parcels and tucked into our food and drink. After quite a few hours everyone was a little tiddly (some more than others) and it started to rain. Luckily Ange only lived two tube stops away so we moved the party to her place, lost some people along the way but no worries. Went to the offy on the way to stock up then unpacked the leftovers and continued to eat and drink on the lawn. Philip bought out the 'bong' (I can't remember the proper name for it) and we smoked some hubbly - flavoured tobacco. Capaccino was the flavour of the night and everyone loved it but it still tasted a little like cigarettes to me but was fun all the same. Night was made very fun with trolley rides down on Philip and Anges 'bbq', phoebe's very funny speech and of course everyone enjoyed the hubbly. Thanks everyone for coming to my party and all the food/pressies/drink/company you brought. Thank you so much to everyone who sent parcels and cards from home; Mum, Nana, Chris, Teri, Rose, Mel, Lauren, Joy and Martin and thanks for the calls Caz and Steve.

CAKE !!

Check out this fantastic and very chocolatey birthday cake that the best boyfriend ever made me for my b'day !!!!!!!!!

Fredericks for Champagne tasting

As part of my birthday pressie Angie wined and dined me - literally. It was off to a very posh restaurant (so posh we were too embarrased to take a pic of us inside the restaurant) for champagne tasting followed by a devine dinner. I like to think of myself as a pasta connossior and this was the BEST pasta i've ever tasted! And the most fantastic smoked tomato soup. Such a fun night then we went and took a stroll down Islington and looked at all the other great restaurants in the area. Check out the meringues in the picture ! They were huge and only £2 however we resisted....for now but may be back later to taste test them also. Was so much fun, and made even better that it made my birthday stretch out as it was two days beforehand...thanks ange!!!! xx
